Hampton Firm Uses CDFA Tax Credits to Support The Mathey Center for People and Nature
EXETER- QA Technology Company Inc. has made a generous $50,000 donation to the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire (SELT), designating the funds for The Mathey Center for People and Nature. QA Technology, a leading electronics manufacturer based in Hampton, joined seven other businesses utilizing the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) tax credit program, which allows businesses to designate gifts to qualifying non-profits in exchange for business tax credits.
“The tax credit program offered us the chance to make a maximum impact gift toward SELT’s conservation work,” says David Coe, President of QA Technology Company Inc. “As the land trust serving our region, SELT has helped conserve special places that improve the quality of our lives, and we’re happy to support the vision for Burley Farms.”
QA Technology’s gift will go to support the construction of The Mathey Center for People and Nature, which will be located at SELT’s Burley Farms property in Epping, NH. The Mathey Center will become SELT’s headquarters, as well as a working farm and a conservation destination, offering outdoor trails, nature-based education, and workforce housing in the historic John Prescott Chase Farmhouse.
“We’re so grateful to QA Technology for their generous commitment to The Mathey Center for People and Nature,” says Brian Hart, Executive Director of SELT. “We invite other businesses to join QA Technology to leverage their state business taxes into a project that will touch thousands of lives.”
QA Technology joins ReVision Energy, Bassinger Limited, Charter Oak Capital Management, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Normandeau Associates, Wire Belt Company of America, and Piscataqua Savings Banks as donors to SELT through the CDFA program. For companies purchasing $10,000 or more in tax credits, named gift opportunities are available to recognize and publicize their generosity.
As of press time, SELT has $59,000 available in tax credits for the current fiscal year. Businesses must make their pledges by March 31, 2021. Interested businesses should contact Beverly Shadley, SELT’s Deputy Director, to learn more about the project and the program by calling 778-6088 or emailing bshadley@seltnh.org.
Companies that give through the CDFA are issued a State of New Hampshire tax credit equal to 75% of the contribution amount. These tax credits can be applied against the Business Profits Tax (BPT), the Business Enterprise Tax (BET), and/or Insurance Premium Tax. Any New Hampshire business (or national business with a New Hampshire employee base) participate in the program. Coupled with federal charitable gift tax deductions, a business’ gift can approach 90% efficiency.
