All-Terrain Learning Adventures (ATLAS) is SELT's nature-based education initiative, an outreach program designed to connect children K-8 at our partner schools to the beauty of the natural world.

Our curriculum is play-based and weaves together Next Generation Science Standards, NH Social Studies Standards, the CASEL Core Competencies, and NH Work Study Practices, all while cultivating a love of nature, nurturing mental wellness, and fostering connections with land, self, and community.

We meet with each participating grade level approximately once a month for 2-3 hours of outdoor learning time. We offer 3-4 school visits and 3 field trips each school year for each participating grade level.

Our ATLAS Elementary program is a forest-based program for grades K-2 with a focus on science, SEL, and wild play. Our ATLAS Ag program is a farm-based program for grades 3-5 with a focus on science, social studies, and real-world farming connections. Our ATLAS Middle School program is a forest-based program for grades 6-8 with a focus on strengthening work study practices through outdoor adventure activities.

What makes our program unique:

• Experienced educators with public school and nature-based teaching backgrounds
• Repeated experiences to deepen connections to nature and the curriculum- no “one and done” field trips
• Play is essential. Every program includes time for child-led play.
• Professional development and training. We coach the school community to become program champions, so that the school can continue to include nature-based education as a core component of learning.

SELT believes that nature is for everyone! Our partner schools are chosen based on criteria that indicate need, including Social Vulnerability Index, ParkServe public space access, USDA Meals data, and Title I eligibility.
