The Peterson Farm has been conserved forever! Thank you!

The Peterson Sugar House. Those white letters on the brown wooden sign, perched on the sugar shack, are part of the Londonderry social fabric. This sign is the first thing you see as you pull into Peterson Farm, the beloved property nestled on Peabody Row, owned by Hank and Anne Peterson for decades.

After Hank’s passing, Anne wanted to know the land would never be developed and could remain open for agricultural uses forever, so she decided to donate a conservation easement to SELT.

The Peterson Farm, though small, is a diverse and mighty property! It sits in a busy, suburban location — making it a highly valuable piece of real estate — and is one of the last remaining farms in Londonderry.

A Property That Has it All

If you’re looking for “conservation bang for your buck,” you would be hard-pressed to find a property that fits the bill better than the Peterson Farm!

Important agricultural soils
Much of this property is identified as farmland of statewide importance, and once protected, these soils can forever be used to grow food for the local community.

Drinking water protection
The Peterson Farm is considered a high priority water supply land by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, meaning the property helps filter rainwater that will eventually be used as a public drinking water supply.

Wildlife habitat
With open fields and pockets of dense shrubs and forest, the Peterson Farm also provides open space and beneficial habitat for native wildlife species.
