Stewardship and Conservation Administrative Assistant
Permanent, full-time, Non-exempt hourly
Reports to: Stewardship & Land Engagement Director
Overview:
The Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire (SELT) seeks to hire a permanent, full-time, hourly, Stewardship and Conservation Administraive Assistant to provide administrative support to the Stewardship and Land Conservation Departments. This position is vital to the efficient functioning of the easement stewardship, land management, and land conservation programs, ensuring the programs meet the requirements of the Land Trust Alliance’s Standards and Practices and criteria for continued Accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Works in close conjunction with the Stewardship and Land Conservation Teams, participating fully with both Departments and taking on specific assignments as needed.
- Maintains sound paper, electronic and digital project records and assists with organizing, maintaining, and closing of land conservation and stewardship project files, all in accordance with SELT’s internal policies and practices, the Land Trust Alliance Standards & Practices, and the Land Trust Accreditation Commission standards.
- Conducts data entry into LOCATE, SELT’s stewardship and land conservation database, ensuring all fields are accurately populated and up to date.
- Requests, receives, and enters monitoring reports into LOCATE, for lands on which SELT has an Executory Interest.
- Assists with the creation and running of reports in support of the Stewardship and Land Conservation Teams.
- Assists Land Management staff with paperwork for land management projects such as wetlands permitting, timber harvests, and current use updates.
- Answers general email and phone inquiries for stewardship and land conservation, including assisting the public with submitting permissions for game cameras and other uses of SELT lands.
- Assists in the preparation of internal communications to and meeting materials for SELT Committees and Board of Directors. Attends meetings and prepares minutes as needed.
- Supervises volunteers, in particular volunteers that assist in filing and record keeping for the Stewardship and Land Conservation Teams.
- Schedules meetings for key team members with landowners, partners, and others.
- Participates in organization-wide events and SELT committees as assigned.
- Assists with other administrative tasks as may be assigned to support the organization’s mission.

- Ability to effectively operate computers and assigned software, including Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated interest in conservation, natural resources, environment, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- A background in the nonprofit sector is preferred but not required.
Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with level of directly relevant experience, with a starting range of $45,000 to $48,000. Benefits package includes health insurance plan; long-term and short-term disability insurance; employee match to 403(b)(7) retirement plan; and paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. Free solar-powered EV charging is available on site for SELT employees.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Work is performed in a normal office environment and is not subject to extremes of noise, temperature, odor, etc. The person in this position operates computers, printers, photocopiers, and basic office equipment. Work requires repetitive motion in the use of computer, keyboard, and most. Occasional travel is required, with select night meetings and weekend assignments.

Easement Stewardship Manager
Permanent, full-time, Exempt
Reports to: Stewardship & Land Engagement Director
Overview:
The Easement Stewardship Manager works collaboratively with the Stewardship Team, private and public landowners, conservation partners, and volunteers to ensure SELT meets our commitment to the long-term stewardship and protection of each property’s natural resources and easement purposes.
This position reports to the Stewardship and Land Engagement Director and supervises Conservation Easement Stewards, temporary seasonal field staff, and volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the Easement Stewardship Program meets or exceeds the requirements of LTA Standards and Practices and requirements for Accreditation
Develop and sustain relationships with the landowners of conservation easements SELT holds
Develop and implement an annual work plan and budget for the Easement Stewardship program
Supervise permanent and seasonal easement stewardship staff
Key Responsibilities
- Easement Monitoring & Stewardship: Lead the easement stewardship program to ensure compliance with easement terms and conditions. Ensure SELT’s completion of monitoring visits through ground visits or remote monitoring, including review of remote imagery, walking properties, and meeting and/or speaking with landowners and land managers. Ensure Executory Interest Compliance with easement monitoring. Perform monitoring of conservation easements held by other organizations/municipalities in accordance with existing contracts.
- Landowner Relations: Implement existing and develop new strategies to establish, build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with landowners to encourage stewardship practices that align with easement goals. Provide guidance and support to landowners on conservation practices, land management, and easement obligations.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed records of monitoring visits, landowner correspondence, and any legal or stewardship issues. Prepare easement stewardship reports and other documents as needed.
- Legal Compliance, Enforcement & Amendments: Work with SELT staff, partners, and legal counsel to ensure easement terms are enforced and any violations are addressed appropriately. Assist with enforcement actions in collaboration with the Stewardship & Land Engagement Director and legal counsel. Assist with the evaluation of and implementation of amendments to conservation easements in cooperation with other land trust staff, legal counsel and relevant committees
- Program Development & Improvement: Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance the easement stewardship program, including monitoring processes and landowner engagement strategies.
- Community Outreach & Education: Represent the land trust at meetings, conferences, and other events to raise awareness about conservation easements and the importance of good stewardship.
- Data Management: Maintain and update easement records in LOCATE, the organization's stewardship and lands database. Ensure data integrity and accessibility for staff and stakeholders.
- Additional Responsibilities: Participate in Land Stewardship Committee meetings. Support the land protection process for new conservation easements through review of Baseline Documentations Reports, easement deeds, and boundary surveys. Complete other tasks as necessary to support the organization’s mission, including participation in outreach and special events and field trips.

- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental studies, land management, or a related field and five years related professional experience. The strongest candidates will have direct experience in conservation easement stewardship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, careful listener, and strong attention to detail
- Good judgment, independent initiative, sensitivity to situations, and a mature and friendly manner are critical
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Salesforce/LOCATE or other online database.
- Working knowledge of ArcView 9, 10 or ArcPro, including ArcGIS Online
- Working knowledge of GPS technology with strong preference to knowledge of Field Maps for ArcGIS or similar app
- Skilled in one or more of the following: natural resource inventories, NH plant, animal, or community identification, land management including forestry, wildlife and/or agriculture, and/or other field work
- Ability to interpret maps, surveys, and other field documentation
- Strong understanding of conservation easements, and easement stewardship trends and practices
- Interest and ability to grow professionally as the organization’s needs evolve
- Physical ability to hike at least five miles through rough terrain, navigate via map and compass, comfortable working alone in the field
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and reliable and insured personal vehicle available for work use
Compensation

Benefits package includes health insurance plan; long-term and short-term disability insurance; employee match to 403(b)(7) retirement plan; and paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. Working Conditions & Physical Demands
This position requires a significant amount of work outdoors with the remaining work performed in a normal office environment. Office work is not subject to extremes of noise, temperature, odor, etc. Operates computer, printer and other office equipment. Work requires extended sitting and repetitive motion in the use of computer, keyboard, and mouse. Field work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and generally involves walking (occasionally more than 5 miles), bending, crouching and occasionally climbing. Operates tablet, GPS, compass, camera and related tools. Regular travel is required with occasional night meetings and weekend assignments.
