Come to the Volunteer Land Ambassador Info and Training Session to Learn More!
Are you a frequent user of the Piscassic Greenway, Stonehouse Forest, or Tucker & French Family Forest? Do you want to spend time outdoors sharing information about SELT and our conserved lands? This summer we’re launching our Land Ambassador Program and we’d love to have YOU out on the trails representing SELT!
Volunteer Land Ambassador Info and Training Session
Wednesday, July 26
Nan and George Mathey Center for People and Nature
247 North River Road, Epping
5:00-6:30 PM
The Land Ambassadors will be responsible for visiting one of three SELT properties on the first Saturday of each month. We’ll set each Ambassador up with a binder stocked with property specific and general SELT information to take to the trailhead where you’ll post up and provide information about SELT, the property, and its trail system and answer questions to land users.
SELT has camp chairs, small folding tables, and tablecloths that Ambassadors are welcome to use. We will also provide zipper binders to store materials and collateral in for windy days. You are welcome to set up your station however you’d like as long as you’re comfortable! Each shift will be two hours long, from roughly 9:00am-11:00 am, and will be weather dependent. You can sign up to be an Ambassador as many or as few times as you’d like.
This role will require volunteers to do some reading to be able to answer questions about SELT and their assigned property. Ideally, folks will be regular users of the property they are Ambassadors of or be willing to explore independently to familiarize yourself with the lay of the land. They will also need to understand the history & current state of SELT, have a basic understanding of SELT-owned properties, and deeper understanding of their chosen property.
At the Info and Training Session, we’ll answer questions about the Land Ambassador Role, and do some training on general SELT information, as well as each of the three highlighted properties.
