A pledge is a great way to invest in this place you love – Merrymeeting Lake – and ensure its scenic beauty, water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities are sustained for generations to come.
SELT is accepting pledges for Mount Jesse and the Merrymeeting Clean Forever vision, for up to a five-year period (2025 through 2029).
And pledges are eligible for the Merrymeeting Matching Challenge – each pledge will be matched dollar-for-dollar, furthering the impact of your charitable giving.
Here's why a pledge is so impactful: Through Merrymeeting Clean Forever, SELT is hoping to not only secure the funding necessary for Mount Jesse but also set the community up for continued success in conserving the watershed through the creation of a Strategic Conservation Fund for Merrymeeting, with a minimum goal of $2 million.
With such a fund dedicated for the watershed, SELT expects to be able to conserve between 500 and 750 additional acres by 2030 – in addition to Mount Jesse. This fall, we are in active discussions with additional property owners of critical watershed lands. Having the Strategic Conservation Fund will allow us to enter purchase agreements with these landowners, confident that the lake community supports this continued work.
