Just $10,000 Left to Conserve Monahan Farm

Just $10,000 Left to Conserve Monahan Farm

With New Hampshire’s strawberry season fast approaching, it is a perfect time to help conserve a pick-your-own paradise – the Monahan Farm in East Kingston.  SELT has just $10,000 remaining to successfully conserve this family-owned, multi-generational farm. Your gift will be matched! Last year SELT reached an agreement with the family to acquire a conservation easement on these 28-acres at the intersection of Route 107 & 108.  Funding partners include the Town of East Kingston and state and federal grant programs.  Earlier this spring, SELT secured a grant from the NH-based Russell Farm and Forest Conservation Foundation. They will match your donation to conserve the Monahan Farm! Please make your special contribution for the Monahan Farm. Double the impact of...

53 Acres Conserved in Durham on the Lamprey River

53 Acres Conserved in Durham on the Lamprey River

SELT and the Town of Durham announced the purchase and permanent conservation of 53 acres in Durham as part of the Thompson Forest Conservation project. This venture protects the last remaining tract of what was once part of a 200-acre dairy farm owned by the Thompson Family.   The land has been part of the family for four generations. "The Thompson Family knew the importance of this tract for the community which is why they held onto it for so long under their good stewardship and oversight," said Duane Hyde, SELT's Land Conservation Director. "A project like this protects the drinking water supply for the Town of Durham and University of New Hampshire, but it also has important wildlife and conservation...

Our Current Projects

ABOUT SELT

The Southeast Land Trust of NH is a member-supported nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and sustain the significant lands in our communities for clean water, fresh food, outdoor recreation, healthy forests, and wildlife.

Since 1980, SELT has served 52 communities of southeastern New Hampshire to conserve more than 14,000 acres of land through conservation agreements and ownerships.

Our Strategic Plan identifies four goals for the Southeast Land Trust, listed below:

Strategic Land Protection Proactively protect Conservation Focus Areas with an added emphasis on farmland and water resources
Connect People to Place Expand our visibility to broaden and strengthen the connection of people and communities to the Land Trust’s work
Broaden our Relationships Deepen our relationships with members, residents, and communities to expand our reach, increase our effectiveness, and ensure our long-term stability
Sustain our Success Continue our conservation work through model stewardship of our lands and easements

As with any plan, it is only effective if it is implemented, tracked, and evaluated. Therefore for each goal the plan identifies associated strategies and tactics, the responsible party within the organization, a timeline for the work, estimated costs, and measures of progress.
